Maren, can we borrow your helmet?

My beautiful girl was taking a bath the other night and tried to stand up and get the shampoo bottle. Only, she forgot she can't stand, toppled over, and hit her face on the tub. Poor girl! I asked my sister if we could borrow Maren's helmet. Unfortunately, she still needs it, so we'll have to buy our own. :)

Fighting sleep

I had put the baby down for a nap the other day. She was fussing a bit, but sounded like she was just about to fall asleep. After not hearing anything out of her room for a minute, I decided to check and see if she was indeed asleep or if she was playing in her mirror. When I first cracked open the door, I freaked, threw the door open and ran toward her. (I thought something was wrong.) Then she sat up a bit and put her head back up against the bars of the crib and went back to sleep, so I decided I would capture the moment. She was sitting up and holding on to the side of the crib. Still not wanting to fall asleep, unfortunately, she already had!!

Eating Bananas

This girl wants nothing to do with baby food! She just gags and pukes when I give her anything pureed. She's too much like her father..."give me the real stuff." She has done really well. A couple of her favorites: tomatoes, bananas, peaches and cucumbers. She had chicken and noodles today and seemed to really like it.

Lovin' her bath time

I have decided that another way to keep the baby occupied if I need to get something done (in the bathroom i.e. waxing, cleaning, hanging laundry in the closet) I can just put her in the tub. She loves it! She plays until I have to pull her out simply because the water has turned cold! The toys that she is playing with were purchased at Gordmans. I got a really good deal on them and realized why when I finally opened them up. Some of the numbers a labeled incorrectly! ha!

Pictures from the last couple of days

She's pulling herself up to standing on the side of her crib now.

A good view of those teeth! Look like chicklets!
She's on the move! Today I was talking to S. on the phone and all she did was scream because I wouldn't let her come into the kitchen. She wasn't happy, but she's resting peacfully in her bed for the night now. She just needed more sleep today, I guess. Now it's time for me to get something done. Where do I start?

A Friday Night

Now, if you would have asked me 5 years ago what I would be doing tonight....I never would have said spraying wasp nests and pulling weeds on a Friday night! I love it, though. I feel like such a nerd, but I love going out after I put the baby to bed and pulling weeds and dead heads in my flower beds. I am a little nervous that one of these times I'm going to reach in for a dead head and grab a spider or cricket! My how the times have changed.

Seeing double

I was trying to find something more to occupy the time of my little girl. She just wasn't feelin' the pots and wooden spoon...both of my sisters had mentioned a mirror. I just turned my full length mirror on its side and set her in front of it with her toys and I was able to blow my hair dry right behind her. We both enjoyed those few moments! :)

Pinching pennies!

I'm trying to cut corners and save where I can. I thought this was a fun place to start! So very easy....I made baby food. Boil, puree, scoop! And it's super healthy for my gorgeous little girl; all natural, no salt, and a little fiber/omega-6&3 boost with some flax! She only had a couple of bites before her nap, but she seems to like it.

She looks just like daddy!

I put A. in her high chair for the first time the other day and I thought I would snap a picture or two. I could not believe how much she looked like her daddy in the pictures. I don't see it so much when I'm around her all day, just when I saw it in these pictures.

And what it looks like now!

Most everything in here I planted as bulbs with the exception of the nine foot tall canna lilies! There were a few of those that just started out as roots. This bed should have quite a bit of growth next year...gladiolus around the back corners and the caladiums tucked into them and those lilies are going around that left corner along that side of the house. My plan was not to plant a privacy bush!

This is not really how I would have chosen to plant these flowers, however I took too long in deciding where to put them, so my husband took it upon himself to plant them while I was gone. I'm not bitter.

These red plants do really well at night. They get too much sun during the day, I thought this would be the least sunny spot in the yard, still too much for these though.

This still isn't where I would like it to be; I haven't gotten a chance to put weed/grass killer in the part to the left of the walk way. There's not really anything but that sunflower and a few caladiums up by the stairs that should be in there. This is probably as good as it gets for right now. My flowers are doing pretty well, though. I have a friend that is moving soon and renting out her house and figures that bushes are easier for renters to tend to, so I'm going over to take some of her flowers when she gets the bushes planted. I'm pretty excited. Not a whole lot, just some asiatic lilies and some purple thingys (I couldn't keep you thinking that I totally know what I'm doing out there!).
